This is one of a pair of unglazed Northern Qi (550 - 577 A.D.) armored calvary riders on horseback.

Some of original cold painted pigment remains on the helmet and cloak of rider. Details of bridle and harness of this horse are quite clear.

On the saddle is the empty sheath for the sword which has long since deteriorated.
