Great straining broad chested horse with the rider in a backward lean accentuate the movement in this Sui Dynasty (589 - 618 A.D.) figure.

The straw glaze on both horse and rider is wonderfully light with cold painted red pigment added on mane and hooves. There is great patina on this piece.

He almost seems to want to move forward!
