A
beautiful example of a very early Tang Dynasty (618 - 906 A.D.) mounted
suchuai music terracotta (drummer) with lively and well balanced positioning.
The
horse is glazed in a Sui Dynasty straw glaze but the rider, horse head
and small drum are glazed in a dark brown. Red and black cold pigment
details are present on the saddle and rider's head.
