This
rare 'Duck Head' jar from the early Western Han period (206 B.C. - 71
B.C.) has a long neck with the sculpted duck head shape with an opening
in the top. The body is somewhat flattened with a large round base.
This
is a particularly lovely example of this style with its typical grey pottery
color and pure shape, lacking in any decoration other than the head.
